At eighty years old, just a year before his 1972 passing, “Beauty” Bancroft finally realized his dream of Cooperstown enshrinement, ensuring that future generations of collectors would swoon at the sight of pieces such as this. It’s arguably one of the finest Bancroft singles on earth, though admittedly it’s not much of a competition.
Bancroft carefully signed a side panel, which approaches the sweet spot, in bold blue ballpoint. “Hall of Fame 1971” and “1915-1930 Phillies Giants Braves Dodgers Nat. L.G. S.S” were written on the ball’s stamping. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, NM 7. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
